HappyHomes Web App: A Seamless Solution for Modern Renters

Happyhomes web app was born from my own frustrating house-hunting experiences. Powered by AR tech, deposit caps, and broker elimination, it aims to make finding a home delightful, not a nightmare, for millions.

Challenge

With rental demand surging in 2022 due to post-pandemic return-to-office mandates (including hybrid models), prominent areas saw double-digit rental growth between 2019 and 2022. Coupled with non-standardized agreements and fraudulent landlord/broker practices, tenants face unfair rents, security deposit issues, and hidden charges. Design a solution that addresses these pain points and creates a more transparent and equitable rental market.

My Role

  • I owned the entire design process for the Happyhomes web app, from initial user research and ideation through design, prototyping, and user testing. This project served as a comprehensive course assignment.

  • Within the timeframe of 5 weeks, I developed a functional prototype of Happyhomes, focusing on key features crucial for a positive user experience: advanced filtering (budget, location, amenities), AR integration (furniture/décor visualization), and local vendor integration (home setup services).

Final Thoughts

Developing Happyhomes, even as a course project, highlighted the significant need for a more user-friendly and transparent rental experience. While this was a prototype, the potential of Happyhomes to alleviate the common frustrations of house hunting, particularly with its focus on AR visualization and local vendor integration, is something I'm truly excited about and eager to explore further.
